Maryvale storms back to overturn Bryn Mawr, 46-41

Maryvale Prep (7-4, 4-1) used a strong 4th quarter comeback against Bryn Mawr (4-5, 1-1) in a key B Conference matchup on Friday night, 46-41.

Bryn Mawr led 16-3 early and by as much as 11 in the 3rd quarter. After trailing 32-26 at the end of the 3rd, the Lions outscored the Mawrtians 20 to 9 in the final stanza. The Lions were 9 for 10 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter and finished 17 for 21 overall.

Maryvale Senior guard, Meghan Hildreth led all scorers with 25 points, including 19 in the second half. She hit all eight second-half free throws including two with 21 seconds left to seal the victory. Junior forward Lauren Eckholm added 6 points and 7 rebounds.

The Lions have now won 5 out of their last 6 games including their 3rd straight to maintain first place in the IAAM B - Gold Division. Hildreth has averaged 18 points a game during the six game stretch run.

Maryvale continues league play on Monday, January 9, 2012 when they visit Garrison Forest at 4:00 PM. Bryn Mawr hosts St. Mary’s, Annapolis.
