More on the John Carroll Patriots...
The John Carroll Patriots women's basketball team completed their regular season campaign with a 56-33 win over Bryn Mawr Thursday night. The victory was the 18th straight for the Pats who swept through the IAAM B Conference with a perfect 13-0 mark and a 20-3 overall record. Miranda Ripken once again led the John Carroll attack with 11 points as 10 Patriot players scored on their senior night. Senior Talia Kahoe also chipped in 8 points for the victors who took control of the game with an 18-7 second quarter and a 28-17 halftime lead. John Carroll left no doubt as to the outcome after an emotional halftime ceremony honoring their large senior class by racing out to a 24 point lead with an 18-5 run to start the second half. Bryn Mawr's Zoe Zawisa led all scorers with 15 points for the Martians. After a well deserved first round bye on Friday, John Carroll will open up IAAM tournament play at home Tuesday at 5:30 vs the winner of the IND - Mt de Sales game played on February 10th. The Patriots struggled against Mt de Sales on the Sailor home floor on Monday escaping with a 49-44 win. "We are finally healthy again and the rest will do us some good", said Patriot Head Coach Mike Blizzard. "During this final run we found some players on our bench that will be able to contribute in the tournament because injuries and a stretch of 8 games in 16 days forced them into action and they responded well." If the Patriots make it to the IAAM final game it will be played at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 18th at UMBC's RAC Arena.
