National Signing Day at Mercy High School

Two members of Mercy's soccer team signed papers on February 1, 2012 indicating their intention to attend colleges. Seniors Rachel Bourne signed with Mt. St. Mary's University to play Divison 1 soccer and Lexie Niedoba signed with the University of Louisville to play Divison 1 soccer. Parents of both athletes were present at school for the signing amid the cheers of the athletes' classmates.

Eligible also was Alexis Prior-Brown who had planned to sign with the University of Maryland until she found out last week that the coach had left for another university. Alexis decided to defer her decision until she finds out about any changes to the soccer program at the University of Maryland. She is still being wooed by other top colleges.

Signing Day for lacrosse was in November and Mercy had two players sign. They were also acknowledged today to the applause of their classmates. Senior Shannon Aikens will play for Loyola University Maryland, Division 1 and Taylor Hicks will play for Shepherd University, Divison 2.

Mercy is very proud of these student-athletes!
