John Carroll's Miranda Ripken scored her 1,000th point last night against IND
The 12th ranked John Carroll Patriots ran their record to 13-3 with their 11th straight win last night beating the Institute of Notre Dame 60-36. The Patriots now hold a perfect 8-0 record in the IAAM "B" Conference as they take on the Fallston Cougars tonight at home (5:30 tip) in an inner county contest.
However the big story of the night was that Miranda Ripken scored her 1000th point of her career on a pair of 4th quarter free throws. Ripken, a senior captain needed 15 points to reach the prestigious mark and got just that leading all scorers. Emily Soller added 13 points and Yemaya Johnson added 10 for the Pats. Ripken will be honored by her school at their home game tonight vs Fallston in pre-game ceremonies starting at 5:30. When asked about the feat Miranda said, "I have to admit I was nervous, but now I feel relief that it is over. I am glad it is behind me now."
On the evening, Miranda scored one three-pointer, three field goals and was six for six from the free throw line including the two that put her to the millennial mark in the 4th quarter.
