Oldfields rallies past Concordia Prep in final two innings

Faith Rhodes went 5-for-5 and hit for the cycle – with a single, 2 doubles, a triple, and a 2-run home run — to lead Oldfields to a thrilling 15-14 victory over Concordia Prep in C Conference softball action.

Trailing, 14-8, in the bottom of the sixth, Rhodes completed a rally by knocking in the tying run to set up a spectacular finish in the final frame.

The Stevenson University commit then doubled in the seventh inning and came around to score the game winner on sophomore pitcher Katie Mather’s clutch walk-off double.

Ten-run inning propels St. Paul’s past Maryvale

St. Paul's School for Girls scored 10 runs in the second inning on the way to a 15-1 victory over Maryvale Prep on Friday.

The Gators’ big inning was fueled on singles by Anna Hjortsberg, Dylan Delaney, Abbi Klein, and Maressa Cuthrell, a walk by Emily Issing and a double by Ayanna Gould.

Kathe Hobbs earned the win by allowing one run on one hit, striking out five and walking one in 4 2/3 innings.

St. Paul’s produced 13 hits on the day with Gould, Hobbs, Delaney, Hjortsberg and Klein all managing multiple safeties for the Gators.

Gould went 3-for-3 to lead the way for the Gators, who played error-free in the field.
